Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide support to the CCO and Senior AML Officers in the identification, investigation and measurement of potential areas of compliance / financial crime risks.
  • Provide support to the Front Office on all aspects of AML / Financial Crime Compliance including, but not limited to:
  • Client Acceptance and Onboarding
    • Review new account documentation and supporting information to provide recommendations on approval of new business
    • Identify, investigate and measure potential areas of AML/CFT and Sanctions risks in the onboarding process and ensure such risks are adequately documented and mitigated
    • Ensure that KYC standards are met and maintained
    • Generate reports and write-ups to advise management on recommendations, current issues, statistics, demographics, etc.
    • Track exceptional approvals and missing regulatory / mandatory documentation
  • Periodic Reviews and Maintenance of the Client Information Profile
    • Review and approve client maintenance requests through CIP modifications, additions of beneficial owners and powers of attorney, trust modifications and conversions, changes in circumstances, etc.
    • Escalation of cases where changes in circumstances result in increase in risk classification, or present new higher risk factors for acceptance.
  • Client Screening and Transaction Monitoring / Sanctions Compliance
    • Ensure screening is performed on all new and existing client and relationships, screening on third parties when applicable.
    • Review and resolution of all Smart KYC / closure of Pythagoras screening hits and matches
    • Performs ad hoc screening per requests from Head Office for sanctions and other purposes
    • Manage and monitor accounts / clients with AML blocks and restrictions or under enhanced monitoring
    • Assist the Senior AML Officers with the review and resolution of alerts in the automated transaction monitoring tool
    • Ensure effective record keeping by obtaining documentary support for transactions and investigations
    • Manage the AML requests from Group on behalf of correspondent banks
  • Provide support with ensuring that compliance procedures, systems and controls are up-to-date and effective
  • Provide support with providing appropriate timely management information on compliance AML issues to senior management including mitigating actions
  • Provide support to the CCO or Senior Regulatory Compliance Officer to address recommendations by regulators, internal and external auditors, where applicable
  • Provide support with training to relevant employees on new and existing directives
  • Provide support with the preparation of monthly and quarterly reports to Group Compliance
  • Prepare and coordinate ad-hoc reports on compliance developments as required
  • Provide general support to staff and senior management with any compliance AML related matters.
  • Any other AML related tasks as assigned by the Chief Compliance Officer or Executive Management

Qualification/Skills/Abilities

  • Minimum of (3) three years in Compliance;
  • Relevant Compliance certification required (CAMS, ICA)
  • Reasonable knowledge of financial service regulations, know your client, anti-money laundering and conduct of business
  • Fair knowledge of international regulatory requirements that impact the Bank’s business
  • Moderate degree of knowledge with data analytics
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook);
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, telephone etiquette and customer-service skills.
  • Absolute confidentiality for all clients.
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation and diplomacy skills with a high comfort level in dealing with Senior Management, Client Relationship/ Service Officers and external counterparties / stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Demonstrate initiative, attention to detail, multitasking ability, organizational skills and effective prioritization of deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate (oral and written) in English with Spanish or Italian being a definite asset
