Description :Organization: Ron Santiago de Cuba (RSDC) is a premium Cuban rum with decades of rum making heritage, produced by Corporación Cuba Ron and distributed by the joint venture created in 2019 between a European subsidiary of Diageo and Corporación Cuba Ron. The 4 variants target different consumer and customer opportunities – Carta Blanca, Añejo 8 year old, Extra Añejo 11 year old and Extra Añejo 12 year old. Ron Santiago SA (RSSA) is the joint venture company, based in Havana, Cuba. Ron Santiago SA is accountable for the development of this exciting brand in the Cuban market (‘onshore’) and to support the growth of the brand worldwide (‘offshore´).The role: The General Manager Ron Santiago SA is responsible for leading the RSDC business in Cuba which comprises:Develop and deliver the short / mid / long term strategic goals of RSSA onshore business. A £5m NSV, £2m OP business selling and promoting RSDC across channels in the Cuban market with the potential for double digit growth.Manage all relations with the Cuban counterpart, from business-wide strategic reviews to production decisions and interaction with the Cuban distributor.Give support to the offshore business to ensure import / exports KPIs and facilitate the global expansion and the innovation agendas.Manage locally the execution of plans related to potential capital investments in the island.The role will lead a cross functional team of 30 FTE across commercial, finance, marketing, supply with legal and HR support functions, with few Diageo expatriates and mostly local employees.The General Manager Ron Santiago SA is a member of the RSDC leadership team, taking the lead and contributing to strategic analyses and conversations to support the global growth of the RSDC brand.3- 5 top accountabilities:Develop and execute business strategic plan for RSSA and deliver business target:Keep external radar open, constantly monitor the unstable Cuban internal and external environments to adjust the plan with agility.Deliver the plan by constantly adapting to changes, while holding strong accountability on delivering result.Continue improving the standards for the commercial execution and brand plan development.Develop fit for purpose operational processes to operating effectively in an often-unstructured environment.Demonstrate strong business leadership in a non-Diageo-culture environment:Lead RSSA in an engaging way to develop a high performing team, who are inspired to take entrepreneurial risks and challenge the status quo in an unstable economic environment.Build a RSSA company culture that respects both Cuba’s and Diageo’s cultural values to create strong pride for the business and the brand in the team.Build trust and respect through open and honest relationships with the team, in an inclusive environment where everyone can be at their best.Take bets on talent to develop future local leaders for RSSA and the wider business.Manage the relationships with the Cuban counterpart and stakeholders (corporate relations):Develop a deep understanding of the Cuban environment, the position of the Cuban counterpart and of the Cuban stakeholders.Drive strategic relationships with the Cuban counterpart and stakeholders, ensuring that they understand Diageo’s long-term vision of the business and ways of working. This includes a significant amount of government relationships in a politically-charged environment.Represent a bridge between the business cultures of the Cuban counterpart and of Diageo to foster mutual understanding, transparency, and respect.Develop a strong Cuban network to gain an understanding of the Cuban economy and of the factors influencing the consumer-business and the spirits industry, so to stir the onshore business through policy changes and industry developments. Drive controls and compliance:Embrace sound governance and control within a challenging and complex environment.Ensure all ways of working and processes within RSSA are operating effective and efficient and operate compliantly.Required skills and capabilities:7+ years commercial and marketing experience.A strong track record in commercial (both on and off trade, including distributor model, ideally in brand building), and ideally with P&L accountability.Leadership experience – Experience in leading and inspiring a cross-functional team to develop business strategies and deliver financial results.Demonstrated ability to frame and manage at both strategic and operational levels.Entrepreneurial (courageous and risk-taking) in facing the market and motivated to take standalone decisions and lead the company in a complex environment often with little access to Diageo’s supports.Exercise confidence in managing risk, volatility, and ambiguity.At ease at living, working, and developing business relations in a market with a unique local culture, a less-than ideal economic environment, and a highly politicized environment.Strong Relationship skills: proven ability to influence across functions, with internal and external stakeholders and act as the corporate relation point of contact for Diageo in the market.Authentic communicator with experience of working with external stakeholders.Coaching skills to grow and develop people who are not within Diageo’s structure.Fluent Spanish and English speaker.Worker Type :RegularPrimary Location:CubaAdditional Locations :Job Posting Start Date : 2023-08-02
