Workshop Technician
Job description:
This position is an entry level position with the focus on learning and application of skills. This position assembles and tests mechanical assemblies of low complexity. Also, assembly technicians at this level continue to train on more advanced/complex assemblies.
Role and responsibilities or main accountabilities
- Assembles and tests assemblies according to TFMC specifications. Applies and develops basic skills in procedures, techniques, tools, materials and/or equipment.
- Completes required test documentation including test reports, failed test reports and Non-Conformance Reports (NCR).
- Cleans components after assembly according to TFMC specifications and verbal/written instructions.
- Inputs labor details into Labor Tracking System (LTS) for cost tracking purposes.
- Uses material handling equipment to move parts and components from one work or storage area to another as required.
- Performs all duties in a safe manner and keeps all employees aware of dangers in work area. Practices good housekeeping in work area.
- Learns procedures and practices safety to prepare for next level.
- Assists other Assembly Technicians as assigned in more advanced functions as part of training.
Reporting relationships: Reports to the Manager/Supervisor, in the Western Region Subsea Services Organizational Unit in Guyana.
Location: This role to be based in Guyana.
You are meant for this job if:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Clear understanding of general math & have the ability to read, write & comprehend English. Ability to comprehend engineering and weld blueprints.
- Ability to use personal computer and/or workstation.
- Typically no experience in related field, but demonstrates mechanical aptitude.
- Must pass all classroom and hands-on testing per “Assembly Training Program.”
- Basic English written and communication skills.
- Ability to operate high torque wrenches, overhead cranes, jib cranes, forklifts, and rigging. Ability to use hand tools, power tools and measuring devices such as tapes, rulers and pressure gauges.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Shop: Spends 95% of the time in a manufacturing/shop environment and 5% in an office environment. Will be exposed to possible hazards including working with high-pressure equipment, working in confined spaces, high noise, inclement weather, chemicals, pressure testing, heavy lift operations and shop/field traffic.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Shop: Frequent walking, climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, pushing upward, crawling in confined workspaces and lifting daily
